When people communicate they don’t only use their words, they always include parts of their body to convey their message. Depending on where in the world we are from, we use our hands, our heads, and the rest of our bodies differently. You’ll find hundreds of infographics on the internet highlighting how some gestures work in certain cultures but would be counterproductive in others.
Dutch-born business coach Hanneke Riedijk and her team developed an amazing mobile application which will help you decode the secrets of body language and hand gestures around the world. You can download Gestunary for free as an iOS App which features more than 250 images of gestures and their meanings in different countries. To get a feel for the App you can also take a look at the Gestunary Facebook page and follow their Twitter account.
During her chat with The Culture Guy Hanneke also shares her experience of living and working in Japan and Germany.
To connect with Hanneke you can visit her English website or check out her German page. Connect with her on LinkedIn and/or Xing and make sure to follow her on Twitter.
